Bio
Dr. Perry C. McCallen, born in Memphis, TN, the son of Dr. Perry B. and Joanne McCallen and brother of Cindy, grew up in Knoxville. He attended schools there and graduated from Bearden High School. He matriculated at the University of Tennessee long enough to get an infusion of 'orange' and then continued his post-secondary education at Rhodes College from which he graduated with a BA in Political Science. He attended Louisville Theological Seminary for one year followed by a two-year course of study at Reformed Theological Seminary, Charlotte, NC, from which he received a Master of Divinity degree. He was ordained by the Presbytery of East Tennessee. Dr. McCallen then pursued and received a Doctor of Ministry degree from Columbia Theological Seminary.
While in school at Rhodes, Dr. McCallen found the complement and enrichment to his life in the person of Erin Beardsley. They were married in 1990, and are now the parents of two beautiful daughters, Katherine Ann and Mary Camerin and a handsome and busy son, Perry.
Following seminary Dr. McCallen became Director of Youth Ministry at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. He then assumed the position of Director of Youth Ministry at Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian in Knoxville where he remained until called by Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral, Florida to serve as their associate pastor in 1999. His major charge upon arriving at this church of approximately 1400 members was to attract young families. Dr. McCallen has served Second Presbyterian in Chattanooga as head of staff since June of 2003. He received his Doctor of Ministry degree in 2006 from Columbia Theological Seminary. Dr. McCallen's doctoral project is entitled, "Communicating the Gospel to Generation X in a Traditional Church."
